A 33-year-old woman was swimming in Island Lake near Duluth, Minnesota to practice for an upcoming triathlon when she ran afoul of an otter. The critter attacked Leah Prudhomme, biting her 25 times. "It just kept coming after me," she told the Minnesota Star-Tribune. "You never knew where it was going to bite next." Prudhomme's wet suit was shredded by the otter onslaught, saving her from more serious injuries.
After she was pulled into a boat and returned to shore, Prudhomme required multiple rabies and other shots to prevent infection.
